Poetry Come Away for Rest

We live in a world reverberating with noise, music, texture, sound, sight, light.Demanding senses respond--touch, hear, feel, see, be...Listen, dance, race, Fill the time, space, ...No time to pause, slow down...stop.No time to contemplate, think, reason. No time, as did the prophets and philosophers of old,Time  listening, reflecting, readingExpecting to learn, gain insights, grow. And we wonder why we tense.Live hair-trigger lives, Explode in tirades and violence God created us to need downtime,Alone time, Quiet times to decompress, rest, refresh.View His creation. Beautiful mountain peaks,Rippling brooks, amazing flowers and trees. In a world of noise and distraction, We need times of inaction. It’s why He calls us to come away, each day,Spend time with Him, His Word, pray. He, Himself, says it best,“Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” *--Matthew 11:28Makes all the difference.
