Poetry: Fear

A companion of worry,Like a dog with a bone,Not letting go until itPervades thoughts,Decisions, Choices.Fear sublimates trust. No trust when fear fillsEvery waking momentAnd dominates nightmares.Fear of failure,Financial uncertainty.Fear loss of spouse, child,Relationship, Work.Fear of loneliness today,And an unknown,Uncertain future.Living in fear eats away,Leaves an empty, crumpled husk.Fear the result of locking Him out,Forget to reach out,Forget fear is a choice. Will my choice remainFear that enslaves,Or will I release worry,Stress and fear,Choose instead to trustCling to He, Christ Jesus,Who lived, died and roseTo set me free?Maybe it’s time toTake up the cross and follow Him.Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
