Devotion/Poetry: Religion, Tradition—or Truth

SI say I love JesusBut..I really don't KNOW what the Bible saysProbably a dry bookWith some little Sunday School storiesof David and the giant,Of Jesus being born in a mangerThe whole gruesome crossAnd the hard-to-believestory of the resurrection.Jesus was a good personI want to be kind and compassionate like Him.Yes...I love what Jesus stood forThough maybe I wouldn't go as far as some.Well no, I know only what I heardin the few church services I've attended.Read a few articles. You say the Bible is God's Word?I need to actually know GodI need to have a relationship with Jesus? He's more than tradition or a religion? It isn't about me or feeling good, but about giving my life to Him,giving Him complete control?Doing life His way, not mine? Can this be true?Maybe I need to explore this further.Maybe actually see what God says in His Word.Maybe, I don't know much at all.Love God?I don't know anymore.Help me, Lord, know the truth. It's the start. A willing heart.Deuteronomy 11:1 Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.By Carolyn R ScheidiesFrom First I Bow
