Poetry: Choosing Celebration

It is fun and fulfilling to celebrate. Some celebrations take time and planning,Weddings, anniversaries, graduations,Christmas and birthdays.Other celebrations are more spur of the moment,An unexpected achievement,A victory—large or smallSomething not planned at all.Celebrations lift us from the mundaneTo a place of joy, goodwill and pride.Yet, too often, such times are forgotten in the day-to-dayAs we grumble and complain along the way,Instead of tearing down, let’s lift up,Celebrating moments and events—Birth, a new job, a beautiful sunset, or simply meeting a goal,That helps us find satisfaction deep in our soul.Today let’s start something new,Let go darkness and complaints,Look for the good both large and small,And celebrate life and the Lord who provides for us all.Choose celebration!By Carolyn R ScheidiesSee more poems like this in Journey of Faith
