Waiting on God--Do I?
Topic: Trust
Hebrews 6:15 GW So Abraham received what God promised because he waited patiently for it.

When we come to God, do we actually wait for His guidance or do we pray, go our way and then claim God didn't answer?

Do I trust GOD enough to search for His answer through prayer, His Word, circumstances, wise counsel ...and waiting on Him?

Proverbs 2:6 GW The LORD gives wisdom. From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

When My Efforts Fail
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

Romans 9:3132 GW  The people of Israel tried to gain God's approval by obeying Moses' Teachings, but they did not reach their goal. Why? They didn't rely on faith to gain God's approval, but they relied on their own efforts. ...

Do I do the same thing, thinking something I do will save me? Do go to church, read the Bible even be kind to others to gain "brownie points" with my Creator? How foolish. He knows my motivations. All my efforts, if done to gain favor, are meaningless.

There is only one way to God's favor--trust what Jesus already accomplished. Accept that I am a sinner in need of grace, and accept that Jesus didn't just die on a cross in agony, He took my place. Jesus bore my punishment that if I come to Him, He'll set me free.

My actions then come out of gratitude and out of God's love within.

Without Jesus, I can do nothing.

Lord, help me accept Your gift of forgiveness and to stop trying to save myself. Amen.

Grief
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

Psalm 25:17 MKJV The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses.

Recently I've had some no good, very bad days. I miss the grandkids. Hubby took vacation last week because we thought we have them here. But car problems means our kids aren't coming back home now. Too far and expensive for us to go to them. Too expensive now with car repairs for them to come here. Nothing comes in ones...problems, grief comes in waves.

God, I know you are here in my darkness, my hurt, my grief. Will you offer more than Scriptural platitudes? Need promises of provision kept. Need help in the real, physical world. Need money for debt. Need healing, able to move, take a breath without pain. I'm coming, if not boldly, at least as your child. Help!

Hebrews 4:16 MKJV Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Prosperity
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

Psalm 2:12c MKKV Blessed are all who put their trust in Him.

We desire God's blessings. We want God to smile on us and favor us with prosperity in all our endeavors.

What we do not want is God's interference in our lives and we, certainly, resist the urge to submit to His will and guidance.

Yet, blessing, favor and properity don't happen without a decision to know Christ and to seek to follow and serve Him.

The equation is simple: trusting God=blessings.

Cowardly Spirit
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

II Timothy 1:7-8a GW God didn't give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord ...

Afraid? Turn that burden over to God. Those who truly know Him don't need to live in fear because fear and faith don't mix. Fear and love don't mix.

Faith is trusting and loving no matter what. Sometimes other human beings don't deserve such unconditional faith/trust, but God does. While we may not understand the big picture, we can trust He's in control and has a plan and purpose for our lives--if we let go fear and stand to be counted for Him, seeking and following His guidance every step of the way.

When we fail, not give up, knowing Christ forgives, to seek it and move on. In Christ we can be overcomers and joyful victors rather than cowardly victims.

V.9 God saved us and called us to be holy, not because of what we had done, but because of his own plan and kindness.  ...

V. 12b ...However, I'm not ashamed. I know whom I trust. I'm convinced that he is able to protect what he had entrusted to me until that day.

Trust for Tomorrow
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

Proverbs 23:18 GW There is indeed a future, and your hope will never be cut off.

There are times of despair, when we lose someone dear, when debts
outweigh income, when fear tries to wipe out faith. God's Word is
clear. As we trust and fill ourselves up with Him, He promises that no
matter what's going on in our lives or how dark things seem, there is
a future and hope.

Am I willing to trust Him for tomorrow?

Ephesians 5:20 GW Always thank God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A Prayer
Now Playing: I Deal in Hope Daily Devotional Blog
Topic: Trust

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. Psalm 37:3-9 MKJV

This passage has so much in it. In fact, I pray it regularly as a prayer for my family and my friends. God is faithful as we not only “believe” that He exists, but as we “delight” in Him, get to know Him through prayer and His Word, and developing and maintaining a growing relationship with Him.

Everything falls into place if our primary relationship with God is right and righteousness. For He is God, He is a good God and He loves to bless those who honor Him.
